Frank Miele announces his candidacy for the Mayor’s office in the City of Vaughan, for the upcoming October 22, 2018 Municipal Election.
Frank holds an undergraduate degree in Urban & Regional Planning with a Minor degree in Political Science and Master’s Degree in Local Economic Development from the University of Waterloo.
He has held senior Economic Development leadership positions with the Cities of Niagara Falls, Scarborough, and Vaughan and was the Chief Administrative Officer for three rural municipalities in Ontario.
Among his many accomplishments in municipal economic development planning and administration, Frank has been an active voice on several inter-municipal boards and associations.
He has been recognized by:
- Economic Developers’ Association of Ontario – prestigious Economic Development Achievement Award
- International Economic Development Council – Educational Merit award in recognition of outstanding long-term contribution toward enhancing the educational advancement of the economic development practitioner
- He also served as the President of the Ontario Municipal Management Institute.
Frank is also the founding editor of “The Economic Development Journal of Canada” and shares his knowledge and passion by teaching Economic Development at York University and Ryerson University, and Municipal Accounting and Finance at Seneca College. His approach to local economic development is focused on strategic thinking, partnerships and capacity building in a highly interactive and collaborative style.
Eager to show the City of Vaughan what he’s made of, Frank is also proficient in English and Italian, as well as pursuing French.
For almost two decades, Frank was the driving force behind the innovative city branding campaign to position Vaughan as the “City Above Toronto”.
As the Chair of the City’s marketing board, consisting of community leaders, Frank mobilized their support to develop and implement one of the best recognized city image/marketing program in the country.
Aside from his teaching and writing/editing, Frank is also a supporter of the School Council at Our Lady of Fatima Elementary School, Camp Quality Canada for children with cancer, Soccer Coach for the Woodbridge Strikers Soccer Club, and many more.
The City of Vaughan Municipal Election takes place on October 22, 2018.
